Concept, planning and execution of the exhibition architecture for a group exhibition at Kunsthalle Portikus in Frankfurt am Main.
The exhibition ‘House of Commons’ changed continuously over the course of its duration, and saw itself less as a fixed exhibition and more as a dynamic project. On a weekly basis, artwork were exchanged, added and/or rearranged. Following the title and concept of the exhibition, the architecture consisted of two opposing grandstands modelled after the British parliament: the House of Commons. By color, one of the stands is assigned to the floor, and the other to the wall. Thus, the existing symmetry of the identical grandstands and the exhibition space itself is countered by asymmetry. The concomitance of these two opposites establishes a dynamic balance in the space. The exhibition architecture remains reduced to the existing basal elements of the space: Wall and floor.
