Interior design concept and realization of the first store of Leonard Kahlcke’s – Frankfurt based shoe designer and last maker. Counteracting the small floor area of 7m2 the interior develops vertically and the flowing transition of functional and passive elements creates a balance. In order to visually enlarge the floor area, the carpet runs all the way up to the shop window and onto the benches. A custom-made wooden shelf offers room for 100 shoes and disappears from the field of vision under the ceiling. The space works as window display, shop and storage at the same time. Painted in petrol blue the walls contrast the overdyed Persian carpet. The counter, the only free-standing piece of furniture, is painted in a metallic shade of rose gold.
